We are thrilled to announce the strategic partnership with the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana (Slovenia) to establish a comprehensive digital support system for MDT meetings in cardiology. Parsek’s Vitaly platform will help automate and simplify workflows on open standards, making it easier to scale and provide better care options to more people.
Challenges faced in managing complex patient cases in cardiology treatment
In today’s fast-paced healthcare landscape, collaboration and information-sharing across institutions are more critical than ever. The challenges clinicians at University Medical Centre Ljubljana currently face when assessing complex patient cases in cardiology.
The pressures of providing optimal treatment recommendations in a limited time are immense, particularly due to a significant portion of the workload coming from external patient referrals.
As a result, the path to decision-making is not equal for all patients, and there is a high amount of manual effort needed to share patient information. Redundant activities and strains on professionals make the process error-prone, which can be avoided using a proper tool.
In addition, the overall level of interoperability of IT systems is poor, calling for an urgent need to leverage the potential of digitalised and structured data.
A scalable platform enabling seamless collaboration between internal and external MDT stakeholders
Vitaly platform facilitates cross-specialist collaboration in the MDT reviews by using an interoperable approach on open standards. As a result, the patient and other relevant diagnostic data can be securely exchanged regardless of where the patient is referred to MDT, making the data collection process more efficient and comprehensive for making optimal treatment decisions.
The project is supported by Better, an international healthcare IT solution provider that has established the OpenEHR infrastructure and its vision to scale data-sharing beyond borders as a foundation for the project.
“We believe that this platform’s ability to streamline patient reviews, offer standardised treatment approaches, and provide flexible options for patients will ultimately lead to better outcomes and reduce the pressures of the MDT experts. We look forward to continuing this partnership and leveraging technology on open standards to improve patient care,” stated Blaž Suhač, Chief Information Officer at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana.
Commitment to delivering efficient and informed treatment decisions for patients with complex needs
The result of this project will offer significant benefits for the MDT professionals involved, including more cost and time-efficient processes, fewer frustrations associated with manual work and flexible support that meets different user needs. The Vitaly platform’s establishment will contribute to more informed and quality treatment decisions for cardiology patients who require multidisciplinary expertise.
We take pride in supporting the medical experts in Slovenia through a digitally supported MDT solution for cardiac patients and look forward to continuing to deliver valuable solutions that help improve the healthcare experience.
